The end of this little story. I split it up so I could update more but it works as just one story. A little insight into Trent. I don’t know if I like him more or less after this.
Hello, long time fan here. I can’t help but want to find out what Trent has to say every time he opens his mouth, even though I know I won’t like what he says. This glimpse into his life makes me feel rather sympathetic, although I still hate him. Love your stuff in general! Keep up the great work.
@kitschbot: I find it very interesting/hilarious that you say you “hate” Trent. I agree with you that he says some very unlikable things – but you hate him? That makes me very happy though I’m not sure why. Thanks for commenting!!
Trent reminds me of a less extreme version of Happy Rabbit here. It’s really a day, while Rabbit’s arcs always seem like they summarize a life.
I think people (especially guys) will hate Trent in this one because he’s pathetic but so relateable. The whole bit in the store, where he softens and immediately gets burned for it conveys a sense of rejection so well.
Between getting rejected and coming onto Shannon when he’s drunk, Trent goes through two scenarios that probably every guy has experienced and still holds onto deep shame about.
Does he get burned in the store? I thought he just lacked the courage to make anything of the situation and then walked away hating himself for it.. which is also very relateable. Great arc, anyway.
Trent is just a very (male) human character that I think we can all relate to and respect. But that still doesn’t mean he’s your average shat out archetype or some empty character template. I think he’s a strong stand alone character that I could well see getting smashed with, talking our nihilist talk, talking about women with and always respecting his wit.
definitely more. How ’bout a little something from the Sheriff or even My Boyfriend Smells
More Sheriff comin’ up, SoldierMD. And more My Boyfriend Smells sounds great. I think it’ll have to be in black and white though.
Also, I love the sky in your last frame.

We don’t hate Trent so much as we hate ourselves.
Keep up the good work

Snap. I think you’re right, David. Hahaha, I was so projecting my week onto this arc.
