This one actually had two more panels and a completely different punch line but at the last minute I thought this was better – hope I was right.

This is amazing!
if you feel like uploading the alternate ending version, that would be cool
another nice job ! the punch line is good as so true. As mentionned above, all the drones here would like to know the original version you had in mind !
great comic!
apparently this philosophy is actually in the mission statement of the forces that shaped public school:

I guess my teachers didn’t explained the concept of ‘work’ to me too well, either, but I’ve always suspected this might be the case
found this article recently that very strongly reminded me of this comic, and it maybe a better link than the one i originally left here…

…plus it ties in to current events!
Hard to say for certain without having seen the other punchline, but this worked for me like a sack or bricks to the head. The funny comes from the absurd truthfulness of the situation, the sheer brutality and harshness of the reality as it hits the poor students. I have a hard time seeing how any actual joke would have improved the impact.
Excellent work!
Great concept, I have to disagree with the “doctor” part though. Sure not everyone is going to be able to become a doctor, but for many people it actually is a realistic/attainable goal. Plenty of people I know have parents that are doctors (myself included).
@Nate: That’s kind of a personal joke as I’ve spent the past five years applying unsuccessfully for admittance to med school.
too bad i have a best selling novel that chronicles my life as an astronaut before i settled down and became a best selling author
i think PBF handled this topic a bit better: http://www.pbfcomics.com/37/
maybe not as realistic, but at least the outcome is a bit more positive.
