I didn’t think I could do this one in black and white so here it is in color. I’ve got some fun club stuff ready to go out but I’m trying to avoid using my crappy printer and it’s caused a delay. But it’ll be out shortly.
…This one is just perfect. Absolutely hit the nail on the head with me; I spend so much time thinking about all the problems in the world and the most efficient ways to solve them that I end up spiralling into a useless and infinite web of interconnecting problems and implausible solutions. Hopefully I can start having some last-3-frames moments.
I just wanted to let you know that your comics are amazingly thoughtful, and that I look forward to them. Don’t be discouraged! Keep up the fantastic work!
Most of the homeless around here are homeless deliberately. They’re young, hippie/punks or whatever. I wouldn’t care, except they occasionally harass me, and other locals.
I do give a few bucks to the older men/women that I can tell have had a HARD life. Even if they blow it on booze, I wouldn’t want to trade places. I’d rather relieve a bit of suffering.
Homeless kids who are homeless by choice often made that choice because they were abused at home. Please try not to be so quick to assume it’s all teenage hubris and drug addiction.
I suppose I’m more cynical because they tend to show up in the summer, cause problems, then disappear by the winter.
They’re not that young, they’re 20 somethings because I see them in the bars. I understand what can happen to teenagers, I had a friend who couch surfed through high-school do to a situation like what you described.
I’m not without empathy, and I can see I may be quick to judge in a lot of these cases.
Just found this comic and I love it but just to let you know – your navigation doesn’t work properly. The First link leads to the last comic not the first.
I would recommend following them story/category at a time. Otherwise, it’s a little harder to follow, since one comic doesn’t follow after the next (since it’s different story lines).
Yes Mike, when having no reasonable argument or factual evidence, quickly scream “hater”.
“Raising awareness” is another empty buzzword. All the awareness that has been raised on “social media” for whatever case has changed exactly nothing. The US is now even doing “hashtag diplomacy”.
Funny how real problems are not touched by this and bad guys with guns keep doing bad things, despite all the awareness that has been raised and all the “hashtag diplomacy.” Odd, no?
Reality, it likes throwing monkey wrenches at stupid people.
El Bear, there was more than a week between Mike’s first and second post, between which he was able to admit, and ascribe, to his own misgivings about the subject.
I hope you’ve thought about this since your post, since you’ve clearly made your response before fully reading though either of his.

Crying thinking about the children who will go to bed tonight hungry for awareness.

Be nice to Kevin. He was born a hater. It is not a choice. It is who he is.

That was a surprisingly reasonable response, Kevin. Yet another case of Akimbo Comics bringing people together via the magic of Jordi.

Life would be better with a new akimbo.
Lots of love,
@Lydia

B. PATRICK IS NOT YOUR BITCH!
Kidding, maybe.

Well there’s a way to make a formerly homeless child cry. Beautiful.
