I’m very uneasy posting this one. I hope I’m not way off.
Edit: Sometimes I think up these things and I’m sure I’m going to be misunderstood for which I would feel responsible; I mean I’m not just accountable for my intent, right? I’m still the one who executed it, the way in which it’s received is still at least partially on me. Anyway, I feel like this one was much better received than I had feared, for which I’m glad. Thanks!
And if you can’t get enough of ridiculous ads, there’s this.
Dude!! You are back!!!! Thank you.
Nah man. I’d say it’s another one that nails it.
Love it. Thanks b!
Great, once again, great.
Love it man. Totally hits the nail on the head
Great comic! Well executed concept –love the subtle touches like both of them smoking in the 60s– and thought provoking ideas. Intuitively I disagree, but on further reflection I’m just starting to think that our society just keeps the populace insulated from most of the violence and brutality present in the world today.
Anyway, good to see you back, b!
Great comic!
For me, I think the way out of cultural relativism is to find something outside culture, which is more enduring, to base “the good” one.
I like the idea that biology could form that foundation – in that all biological entities dislike pain, so the good is “minimising pain”. The better societies are the ones which cause less pain to their citizens than others.
But there are other ways. The big three are:
Virtue ethics: http://www.iep.utm.edu/virtue/
Consequentialism: http://www.iep.utm.edu/conseque/ (which I suppose I’m in)
Deontological: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deontological_ethics
But I’ve decided to start tying my dick in knots – just to be sure.

It also reminds me of this a bit (which I think you’ll like):

I also think you might enjoy this web comic. Existential Comics: http://existentialcomics.com/ as you’re doing philosophy and it’s all about philosophy.
So Good!
So many things I want to say in reply. Is moral relativism really a stance that can be taken? Are we sure “Good” really isn’t a thing in-and-of itself? (Being that it is a standard to judge by (more good, less good)). Yeah I think judgment on others could not be passed by anyone as run of the mill as others.
AGH you get my head spinning EVERY TIME!!!!
Thank you…
Man do I dig your comics. You write so much better than I am able that I should be jealous.
Awesome as always, worth the wait.
Fantastic. Your comics are always a highlight for me.
Another great one. Reminds me of Pascal’s excellent thoughts on societies and justice.
